気づけば、Late S40’sを穿き始めてから10ヶ月が経ちました。
正直なところ、体重の変化もあってウエストサイズはもう全然合っていないんですが（笑）、ここまできたらもう少し、色落ちするまで穿き続けてみようと思っています。

オーバーサイズのジーンズで、くっきりとヒゲが入った色落ちって、新品からだとなかなか難しい。
思い返すと、90年代にオーバーサイズの501を穿いていた頃もそうでした。あれは、自分が新品から育てたものじゃなくて、誰かがジャストサイズでしっかりヒゲを入れて、それが回り回って古着になり、自分の元に届いた。
だから、自分が穿く頃にはすでに”いい表情”になっていたんですよね。

そう考えると、今回はそのプロセスを、自分ひとりでやっているようなもの。
それって、なんだかとても面白いなと感じています。

今この瞬間にしか出せない色落ちを、前向きに楽しみながら作っていけたらと思います。

Before I knew it, it’s already been 10 months since I started wearing the Late S40’s.
To be honest, with some changes in my weight, the waist size doesn’t fit me at all anymore (haha), but at this point, I think I’ll keep wearing them until they fade a little more.

It’s honestly hard to get defined whiskers on oversized jeans starting from raw.
Thinking back, in the ’90s, I used to wear oversized 501s too. But those weren’t something I had broken in myself — they were jeans someone else had worn in the right size, with the whiskers and fades already in place, and eventually ended up as second-hand pieces that I picked up.

In a way, what I’m doing now is playing both roles in that process.
And that’s actually a pretty fascinating thing.

I hope to keep creating fades that can only be made in this exact moment — enjoying the process as I go.
