完成以来ずっと気に入って、今年はずっと着用しているのが Cat Head JK。
少しずつ色落ちも進み、着るたびにテンションを上げてくれる。そんなカバーオールです。

でも、カバーオールを作ると毎回考えるんです。
デニムじゃない素材でも作りたくなるな、と。

古い資料を見ても、
ヒッコリー、ピンストライプ、ダック、ヘリンボーン、生成りのドリル地など、
実にさまざまな生地が使われていました。

きっと、ワークウェアとはいえ着用シーンも様々。
職種による汚れ方、会社の色（コーポレートカラー）、
そして働く環境に合わせて、多彩なバリエーションが生まれたのでしょう。

そんな中で、
私が毎回惹かれてしまうのが「BKBKのデニム」です。

カバーオールでありながら、どこか上品な雰囲気。
新品のときは少しドレッシーにも見えますが、
そこから色落ちを楽しめるのが、この生地の一番の魅力。

このデニムの経糸には、硫化ブラックのロープ染色糸を使っています。
インディゴと同じように育てる楽しさがあり、
しかもTCBのブラックデニムは、よくある“赤っぽく褪せてしまう”生地とは違います。

着込んでじっくりと育てられる。
それがTCBのBKBKです。

生地についてもう少し詳しくお話しすると——

・経糸：ナチュラルムラの7番糸
・緯糸：細めの16番糸＋打ち込み本数も少なめ
→ その結果、経糸のムラ感がしっかり表れて、10ozでも縦落ちの表情が出る。

Cat Head JKの縫製上の特徴でもある、グリーンのボタンホールとバータックが
この真っ黒の生地によく映えるのもポイント。

黒が褪せ、グリーンも褪せ、
その両方が味わい深く育った姿を想像すると……
それだけでまた袖を通したくなります。
I’ve loved the Cat Head Jacket ever since it was completed, and I’ve been wearing it constantly this year.
It’s showing beautiful fade, and it gets me excited every time I wear it.
But every time I make chore jackets, I think about it:I’d like to make them out of other materials than indigo denim.
Looking through old documents, a wide variety of fabrics were used for workwears, including hickory, pinstripe, duck, herringbone, and off-white drill, etc.
Even though it’s workwear, there are surely many different occasions for it to be worn.
These diverse variations were probably created to suit the way it gets dirty depending on the job, the company’s corporate colors,
and the working environment.

Among them, the one I’m always drawn to is “weft-black & warp-black denim.
It’s just a chore jacket, yet somehow it has a sophisticated feel if made in the BKBK fabric.
When new, it looks a little dressy, but the greatest appeal of this fabric is that you can enjoy the black & grey fading.

The warp threads for this denim are made from black sulfide rope-dyed yarn.
Just like indigo, black denim offers the joy of aging, but TCB’s black denim isn’t like the typical fabric that fades to a reddish hue.
It can be worn and aged slowly.
That’s TCB’s BKBK.

A little more about the fabric…
Warp: Naturally uneven #7 yarn
Weft: Thin #16 yarn woven with low tension.
As a result, the unevenness of the warp yarn is clearly visible, giving the 10oz denim so-called the waterfall fade in the future.

The green buttonholes and bar tacks, a distinctive feature of the Cat Head Jacket’s stitching work stand out beautifully against this jet-black fabric.
Imagine the black and green fading,and how both will develop a rich character…Just that alone makes you want to wear it again and again.
